OUTCOME OF NATIONAL LOTTERIES BOARD DISCIPLINARY HEARING
The National Lotteries Board confirms the conclusion of its disciplinary hearing conducted by an independent Chairperson.
The Board brought charges of misconduct against 36 members of staff who were party to a petition against the CEO of the Board and the subsequent reporting of the incident in the Mail and Guardian.
If the Democratic Alliance and the learned journalists who reported made the effort to read the Annual Report of the NLB that they refer to, they would have learnt that the Board on Page 13 of said report (available under the Annual Report link on www.nlb.org.za) identifies statistics in terms of allocations made by the NLDTF to good causes. All Members of Parliament receive their own copy of the Annual Report each year.
All 36 staff members were found guilty by the Chairperson of the Disciplinary Hearing and were given the opportunity to retract their statement and to apologise. Twenty five members of staff withdrew their statements and one staff member resigned. The remaining 10 staff members today dismissed with immediate effect.
