NATIONAL LOTTERIES BOARD INTERVENTION HALTS VODACOM COMPETITION
After investigating the Vodacom win-a-BMW competition, the National Lotteries Board instructed Vodacom on Monday, 18 February 2008, to cease and desist with immediate effect. Vodacom wrote to the Board advising that the competition would be stopped at midnight on Monday, 18 February 2008. The competition has since been stopped.
The Board is satisfied that it has done its duty in policing and stopping the illegal lottery and advises the public to be wary and make sure they understand the rules of games they participate in. The National Lotteries Board also advises that it will not be able to make representation on behalf of those who feel that they have been prejudiced by the competition. These participants are requested to seek their own legal advice in this regard.
