Regulations on lotteries incidental to exempt entertainment

(Published by the Department of Trade and Industry, 18 April 2000)

The regulations set out in detail the conditions for the legal running of lotteries incidental to exempt entertainment, covering such matters as advertising, the limit on the cost of prizes, the cost of tickets, and the ceiling on the value of total ticket sales. They also include a procedure for exemption applications.

Regulations on the conduct of private lotteries

(Published by the Department of Trade and Industry, 18 April 2000)

The regulations deal with various aspects of the conduct of private lotteries, prescribing ticket price limits, the ceiling in respect of the total value of tickets sold and prizes awarded, and the maximum number of competitions per year to be conducted by any person.

Regulations on the conduct of society lotteries

(Published by the Department of Trade and Industry, 18 April 2000)

The regulations set out rules for society lotteries. They also deal with the process of National Lotteries Board registration of societies that wish to run lotteries. They prescribe the nature of the “scheme” to be submitted, describing the nature of the planned society lottery, and regulate such matter as marketing of the lottery, sale of tickets, the value of tickets and prizes, and the frequency of such competitions. The process to be followed in applying for exemption from any aspect of the regulations is also fully set out.

Regulations relating to distributing agencies

(Published by the Department of Trade and Industry, 22 February 2001)   

The regulations set out general rules for the functioning of distributing agencies, including remuneration, running of meetings, reporting duties and the process for the payment of grants. They also deal with grant agreements between beneficiaries and the National Lotteries Board and reporting duties of beneficiaries.

Regulations on applications for grants

(Published by the Department of Trade and Industry, 20 July 2010)

These regulations repeal similar regulations published in September 2000, October 2000, December 2004, and October 2005, and deal with:

  • The proportion of NLDTF funds to be allocated to the various sectors funded.
  • The requirements for organisations to be eligible for funding in the Charities, Sport and Recreation, and Arts, Culture and National Heritage sectors.
  • The eligibility requirements for miscellaneous funding.
  • The prescribed application form and the mandatory supporting documents to be submitted.

Regulations directing distributing agencies on grant allocation priorities and process

(Published by the Department of Trade and Industry, 20 July 2010)

The regulations specify the process that Distributing Agencies must follow in adjudicating applications for funding and set out certain priorities services and activities that must collectively receive at least 50 percent of available funding.
